5 ways to keep your hair healthy

The key to getting long, glossy hair is to keep it as healthy as possible. Doo-Das stylist, Rachael Hedgecock, tells us her top tips for having healthy hair.

Using the appropriate shampoo and conditioner. It is essential that if you have dry hair for example, you must use products that are moisturising. Oily hair needs a deep cleanse shampoo whilst fine hair would benefit from volumising products.

Using the right wet styling products. You need to make sure you have products like a heat protector if you are using hairdryers or straighteners, otherwise your hair will become badly damaged. Not only this, but also products like smoothing serum if you have thick unruly hair.

A treatment once a week if needed. Brittle dry, damaged hair may benefit from conditioning treatments found in salons. An example is the L'Oreal Fiberceutic treatment seen on HairDoUcare.

Regular cuts is the key to healthy hair. Rachael recommends a cut every six weeks to maintain a healthy length or every eight weeks if you are growing your hair. A regular cut gets rid of damaged ends which could lead to breakage of the hair.

Get your colour done by professionals. Professionals get the colour you want, where as home dying kits are unpredictable. Salon colour will prevent over processing which causes damaged hair.
