Is going blonde too risky?

Going blonde is a very long process and a costly one at that. Most hairdressers would charge over £50 for a colour treatment. Blonde hair needs regular maintenance due to the unslightly roots which grow in next to no time. But is a DIY blonde worth the risk?

The main product used to create a classic blonde is bleach.  Bleach is a harsh chemical to the hair and for the best results you should have it applied in a salon.

Doo-Das salon thinks hair needs to be bleached professionally, and that the customer is given the right products to use afterwards.  Rachael Hedgecock gives her advice:

"You need to be careful because too much bleach can leave your own hair over processed which causes damage and breakage.  You should never bleach on top of hair that has already had bleach on it, you should always wait for it to grow out first".
